David Boren grew up on a small farm in Northern Idaho before heading to BYU to study elementary education. He loved his years in the public schools as a teacher and administrator, and during those years worked on a master’s and PhD in Educational Leadership from BYU. He is now starting on his ninth year as the director of BYU’s School Leadership Program where he trains future school and district leaders. His research, writing, and teaching focus primarily on effective professional development, leadership for deep learning, and fostering wellbeing in children and adults. He lives in Pleasant Grove, Utah with his wife Sherrie and their five active children. They enjoy running, snowshoeing, backpacking, fishing, and community sports.
